What I find really frustrating with artists nowadays is they’re just drawing famous characters to make money off them or get as many views and likes on their work. Artists doing fan arts and then sell them to make money. Do they really think it’s their art that people want? Probably not. They want IP’s (intellectual properties). They’ll ”like” and maybe buy your Batman artwork, but that’s not really your creation. The IP helped you sell that, not your own creation.
I’m not dissing artists, I’m trying to help them open their eyes that they’re only helping these IP’s get even more popular if they keep making fanarts on them. I get it, it’s tempting, because it’s easy money, but I believe these artists (who sell IP artworks) are only making it even harder on artists like me who’s trying to get their own material out there.
Think about it, look at those ugly Funko Pops based on famous characters. People don’t go crazy for those Funko Pops, they go crazy for collecting all their favorite characters and putting them on their shelves. Also, they’re possibly only buying them for profit.
The hardest thing to do is create YOUR OWN original character and attempt to sell that. THAT is hard.
One time, I shared a video of Christopher Reeve Superman head sculpt and got over hundreds of likes in a day. I never get that many likes for my own created character, like Achievoman.
Go on my website, deafvisionart.com, and you’ll see all of my work are my own creation.
Artists, please stop being lazy and start creating your own material. Again, you’re making it too easy for Disney/Marvel/DC to get even more popular. It’s fine you’re drawing IP’s, but please classify them as fanarts because that’s what they are and you’re really not supposed to make money off of them. Just saying.
