Starting a Tattoo Journey

Starting a Tattoo Journey

I'm amazed. Just amazed that so many people asked me to draw them tattoo pictures. Over the past decade, I constantly got requests from many people saying they want me to draw them a picture so they can get my drawing permanently inked onto their skins.

I decided this time that I should try getting into tattooing, even though I had no idea how a tattoo works. Now that I played around with a tattoo machine, it's becoming more clear to me. The more I use it, the most confident I can feel in doing it on someone's skin in the future. Well, I'm not tattooing on anyone's skin any time soon! I'm definitely practicing on fake skins first. I will eventually tattoo on a person once I completely understand and know how to avoid risky, even deadly cross contamination and infections.

I think it'll be a good start for me to get into tattooing. I'm not going to be an expert at it, but I will eventually get it down.

It was an interesting experience taking apart the parts of the tattoo machine, then putting them all back together. Tattooing on a fake skin is almost like drawing on paper with a feather instead of a pencil. I have to hover over the fake skin with my machine. It's such a weird feeling, but definitely interesting. The picture portrayed here is my first tattoo attempt, so of course, it's going to look sloppy. The lines aren't clean if you really look close to it. Doesn't matter, I will continue to practice tattooing clean lines.

Until then,

Brandon Nielsen
